Pinball FX 2 – Sorcerer’s Lair Table

8.5 Overall Score
Gameplay: 8/10
Graphics: 7/10
Sound: 7/10

Fun theme. New mini games.

Other than bright colors the table really doesn't awe inspire.

Unlike some of the other tables for Pinball FX2 the Sorcerer’s Lair table a magical, almost RPG feel to the table even down to the Fable like music. With brighter colors and a table that is more open than other tables that I have played on, this table is made for people like myself. Some of the enviroments are very fairy tale like as well. On the right side of the table is a very large moving tree with a face and the limbs of the tree look to be like huge arms, almost like something out of a Tolkien novel. On the top part is a castle with gargoyles on both sides and a wizard next to them utter spells under his breath. On the tables are the faces of who I assume to be the hero of the “story” and his sister along with some blue girl whom I’m not really sure why she’s there. Everything even down to the bumpers are taken from an RPG setting. Even the launcher is steam powered.

Just like every other table from Pinball FX2 table, it comes fully equipped with mini games that have you defending your sister from spiders and even moving and actual ball through a series of gears in the table. Both kind of challenging in their own way.

At one point the table goes dark and the wizard opens up portals at different points on the table that when the ball is sucked into them it is transported across the table for extra points. In the upper middle of the table is a pentagram than when hit enough times will rise up and open up a new path to one of the upper tiers, it add 50,000 points every time you hit it and it adds up every time. You could hit a million points a ball if you do it right.

With all of the other tables out there it’s really hard to find one that stands out. This one does with both visually and with play ability. With all of the different table themes out there I appreciate the fact that they decided to appeal to the RPG crowd of people like myself. Some people might find this table to maybe be a little too kid like and maybe a little too easy in comparison to some of the other tables, but I think the fun factor of this table is what will make the people pick this table and play it. If nothing else just to try and get the high score over you friends and family. With so many table choices it won’t be that hard to look this table over, but I hope that this table will at least get the play time that it needs. People will find that this table can be fun and very kid friendly so the whole family can play.
