Legendary game creator Tomonobu Itagaki (Creator of Dead or Alive, the 3D Ninja Gaiden games, original Xbox Supporter, and founder of Team Ninja) has resigned from his current roles at Valhalla Game Studios.

The rock star is stepping down from his position as representative director and chief technical officer, only to slide into the new position of “prime adviser”.

Itagaki-sama posted two messages in the press release and on his own Facebook, noting that he’s done with putting all of his being into one game after another.

Now, he’s opting to groom potential stars within the game industry by mentoring them under his tutelage and knowledge. He also turned 50 this year, so he’s probably a bit tired of the development crunch time.

A new staff replacement for Itagaki-sama wasn’t announced at this time. They will surely be hard shoes to fill.

This video will give you a good idea of who Itagaki-Sama was.
