Crackdown 2 Demo Impressions

I got in on the whole smart phone tag reader crap from Microsoft and was able to gain early access to the Crackdown 2 demo. There are pros and cons to the demo and I’ll go over what I’ve seen to this point.

I have not played much of it and unfortunately I have yet to find anyone time to play online. What I can tell you about is the single player of the game. If you have ever played the first game then you will find that the follow up feels very familiar. Like on the first game there is a day/night cycle. During the day the game feels almost like the you’re playing the first one. Typical climbing buildings and finding orbs and killing gang members on the street. Trying to accomplish anything during the night is a different story.

Of the night time are when the freaks come out. Tons and tons of freaks. I have not found many things on the demo that are as fun as driving something through a huge crowd of freaks. Shooting them does not have much effect until you get your guns skill to a decent level. Not that I have covered the basics of single player. I will tell you what to expect from a the 1.4GB download.

Pretty much staying true to the fist game. The demo does as well. It’s a timed demo that starts you out with around 20 minutes. You can unlock 100GS that will be carried over to the full game when purchased. Your abilities increase on a dramatically increased level. I have maxed out at least 2 of my skills in the demo just running around having fun. There are all the same orbs from the first game in the demo. Also the renegade orbs make an appearance as well as new Xbox LIVE orbs that can only be collected online. Your progress does not carry over into the full game. The only problem I see with the game is that it is very much like the first one. Almost too much.

This is the way I see it. You are playing the game for a short 20 minutes with accelerated growth to your character. I don’t see the any issue with the demo, or the game for that matter. It’s still a buy for me because if the 20 minute demo is a blast The full game is bound to be.
