Rumour has it that Microsoft is planning on phasing out its proprietary currency system by the end of 2012. This would mean the freedom to purchase anything from the various Microsoft run stores at exactly the price listed without having to invest in a surplus of virtual points which would then be used to buy your item only to have a little bit left over.
Having to forcefully purchase an excess of points is probably the biggest flaw in the currency system that Microsoft has been embracing so far and to be honest, I wouldn’t be sad to see it go. It could make life a ton easier to just take the exact amount of cash from what could possibly be implemented as a virtual wallet in the future.
This could also bring an end to the rampant disparity between regional costs for the same denomination of microsoft points. Feel free to share your thoughts below!
