Junegore's Goodtime Movie Blog

I don’t think it’s a secret that 2003’s Hulk could go down as the worst comic movie ever. So I was pretty skeptical as I was getting ready to watch The Incredible Hulk. As you all know that’s the 2008 re-hash of the franchise.

I have to say to start with that Edward Norton is much better as Bruce Banner. I’m not sure if it’s because it’s Edward Norton or because he is more believable as the character. Liv Tyler also plays a better Betty Ross. That I think is due to the fact that Jennifer Connelly was not very good on the part to begin with. I will say that she played well opposite of Eric Bana in the first film. The rest of the cast I think nailed it on the newest installment.

My big complaint with the first movie was the director Ang Lee. By all means Louis Leterrier did a much better job with the direction in this movie. Also the writing was much better. That for me was a shocker as Stan Lee and Jack Kirby wrote the first film. Seems kind of odd that someone else wrote it better than them considering they where behind the character to begin with.

I think another thing about this movie is that this is the first time we have seen a re-hash of a movie that also served as a sequel. I think that is why a lot of people are skeptical about this movie. All in all this movie was done very well and I think it lays the groundwork for the franchise to take off and really go places. I also like what Marvel is doing as far as setting up for a multi-hero film with the appearance of other Marvel characters in other movies. I won’t say any more than that for those of you who have not seen it. My rating system on this blog is going to be 1* being the worst and 5* being the best. As far as The Incredible Hulk I would say 4*. As for Hulk, Ang Lee’s disaster in 2003, 1*.

Now as far as my opinion in general on this whole re-hash idea i think it could be a great idea for some movies but not all. It worked with Batman and it worked with The Hulk. I recently read that they are going to try and do it with Superman. I don’t really think so. I guess it’s just another example of how Hollywood sees something that could work so they will just run it into the ground till everyone hates it.(I.E. Disaster movies of the mid 90’s) Well either way that’s my opinion and I’m sticking to it.

I am going to have to agree with you on that one. 4* is definitely what it deserves.
