Budget Gaming: Transcendence for the PC

As I mentioned in my last post, there are a lot of people around the world who are feeling the crush of the hard economic times coming upon them.  I thought it would be nice to take a look at the options that we have to get more gaming goodness without spending a lot of money using our existing consoles or computers.

Today’s entry is a PC game called Transcendence.  This game is a science-fiction space exploration/combat game with some good looting and upgrade mechanics included to keep you playing beyond the first 5 minutes.  Best of all, this game is absolutely free!  I’ve probably been playing this game for about 4 or 5 hours with my first ship, and I’ve got the feeling that I have a long way to go before getting to the really powerful weapons and armor.

Transcendence also supports mods, or user added modifications, which can enhance the game beyond the original creator’s idea.  There’s a database of some user-created mods online so you can start customizing your own gaming experience.

The game has some official forums which appear to be pretty active.  In fact, in the 2 days of March 17th and 18th, over 75 registered users were added to the forums from all around the world.

If any of this sounds interesting to you, why don’t you go and check it out?  It won’t cost you a penny, and it might bring you some quality entertainment.  Feel free to discuss your experiences with Transcendence in our forums.
