Zeit²: Review(Steam)

So Zeit² is a game of death. But in a good way. It is an interesting blend of fighter plane where you are able to just hold the button down and go, time travel, and health drain.
The game of death aspect comes from almost everything you do drains your health. Firing will drain health, letting certain enemies pass will, but it is also fairly easy to gain that life back. All you have to do is either pick up a health boost or kill enemies or land your shots on a boss.

The level layouts are self explanatory, and share similarities throughout the game types that I’ve been able to play so far. The main portion of the game is Arcade but there is also a Tutorial, Wave, Time Limit, Survival, Tactics, Score Attack, and Challenge. How you unlock all of those game types is by getting farther in Arcade. Wave is where you go through and try to get through as many waves as possible, and Time Limit is where you go through and try to beat the levels under a certain time. The rest of the modes are self explanatory.

The controls are fairly simple to use too. You are able to use a controller or keyboard. If you do go the keyboard route, the mouse isn’t used for anything. Even at the main menu you have to use the up and down keys and enter to make your choices. Not game breaking, but can be slightly annoying. I’m assuming any wired controller that works with a pc can be used but I’m using a wired X Box 360 controller. The layout for the controller is nice and simplistic. No holding down multiple buttons to do any special moves, just one press of a single button.

There are also achievements called challenges in this game for you achievement hunters. The achievements seem to vary from fairly easy to challenging. I don’t have many but I have looked at them. I’m hoping to get quit a bit of them if not all of them.

I really enjoy this title, but I can see it being very frustrating at times. The game is also available on Xbox LIVE for 800 MS points. So if you have an extra $10 dollars that you don’t have to spend on anything important and want a good game that you can pick up and go with I suggest this one.
