Nintendo Announces the Wii U

Today Nintendo announced their new console The Wii U. The new console set to come out next year will be the follow up to the once smoking hot Wii.

The console features a new controller that looks like a DS that ate a grow mushroom. The new controller features motion control and also offers a new experience by allowing the player to use it to look into the game world through multiple new “windows”. It also has a front facing camera as well as dual analog sticks. Also, we can’t forget about eh enormous 6.2 touch screen in the middle.

The system will be compatible with older Wii controllers. Based on the specs of the new system, it seems that as we all knew Nintendo will be making their debut into HD gaming with the consoles release. It’s also backward compatible with Wii games. The console will have internal flash memory as well as having the option to support external flash memory as well. No price point was announced or any detailed specs on the Wii U. We seen a demo and to be honest it still feels gimmicky to me. I know it’s early to say that, but you would think that after the slack Nintendo received for mini games and gimmick controls a different demo video would have been chosen. I still think I’ll hold off on passing judgement until I’ve seen more.
