Classic Twisted Pixel in Zen's great Pinball environment

The table lay out is good, but hard to get going

Zen Studios is at it again. This time releasing one of the most recognizable characters on XBLA for their most recent table. Did I mention probably the most charismatic too.

The Ms. ‘Splosion man table is the newest entry into the collection of tables for Pinball FX 2, and it like many past releases does not disappoint. Maybe it’s because I’m a huge fan of Twisted Pixel or MSM, but this table is in my opinion the most entertaining of the table released so far. How’s the gameplay though?

The table plays just like the other tables as far a controls and flow, but with every table released there are several new table exclusive features. The MSM table is no exception. You can build MSM to splode by hitting certain paths on the table and there are several little mini quest that you can unlock on the table, and if you do them right that is the key to unlocking the 3 new achievements added to Pinball FX 2. For anyone who has played the demo or the full game of MSM, the boss that’s featured on the opening levels seems to always be lingering at the top if the table, and based on how you’re shooting the ball you can launch projectiles into him. Even the cannons in MSM are inter-weaved into the table and can serve to make your game interesting and challenging.

When we reviewed MSM when it released on XBLA one of the things that I really enjoyed was the dialog and sound. I’m happy to say that all the one liners and great sound effects that made me fall in love with MSM are all present in the pinball table. With the pink lady herself standing in the lower left corner of the table she will always be having something clever to say. Rather it be some of the her classic lines from the game or some the new one liners that she says for the table. You may even find that ‘Splosion Man makes a brief appearance.

It’s always good when two development houses come together for a project, but when two companies like Zen and Twisted Pixel teams up, you have to think that something special is going to come out of it. I’m happy to say that this project will not disappoint. There is a great option to access the table directly from the world map on MSM. No matter if it’s the sound, the characters or just the idea of it being a a project by two of the most fun develops to date. This table is worth a buy for the Pinball FX 2 platform and you’re likely to enjoy it more than any other table that Zen has released.
