I have no clue if any of you heard of the few GameStop stores that where selling MW2 early or not. If you didn’t here is the situation.
Days before MW2 was slated to release GameStop was selling the copy early because ‘they’ had permission from higher ups in the GameStop corporate ladder. When Activision was told of this they simply said “It will be looked into.” Now, something is wrong here right. I can remember Midway threatening to take Seven-eleven’s license for selling Mortal Kombat Vs. DC early. I thought that it was just because of the game being MW2. Then I remembered Infinity Ward taking all these precautions to make sure no pirated copies got out. So all the work they done to stop pirates was just thrown out the window because a few GameStops decided to not play by the rules, and they got away with it.
Then today I read this.
Three GameStops in Jersey City, N.J. put Assassin’s Creed II and Left 4 Dead 2 on sale today, calling in customers to pick up their preorders. Clerks said corporate authorized the move, blamed on a rogue independent breaking street first.
The stores involved were nos. 4627, 4260 and 6005 at the Hudson Mall and Newport Centre. In calls placed to the stores, sales associates said another store in the area had started selling Assassin’s Creed II and Left 4 Dead 2 early; they sought permission to break street from “higher ups” in GameStop, and it was granted. The broken street date was only for Jersey City, they said. Calls to stores in Hoboken and Clifton said Assassin’s Creed II was not for sale until its Tuesday release date.
So how the hell is this fair? Why can GameStop do something no one else can? Yes, I am bias as I hate GameStop, but I think no matter how you feel about GameStop you can’t think this is right. I know some people will say I’m just mad because I didn’t get it early. Well, that’s not it at all. I was not going to buy either of these games. I just think its un-fair for GameSuck to do what they want and nothing be done about it.
